my friend pam is pouring a sweat at a lodge in kingstree, SC on Saturday, so the shoppe will be closed on Saturday, July 24th, as I am attending this sweat, both for my own spiritual well-being and to support my sister pam. if you are interested, this sweat is free and open to the public! I have included the information for you to read over. if you have questions, feel free to call me at the shoppe! 803-765-0450. we would love to have you join us!

being unable to go to sundance this year, I am going to be doing a prayer ceremony at springbank retreat center in kingstree, s.c. the sisters there have allowed me the use of their lodge for the weekend. on Friday afternoon, July 23rd, the lodge and area will be prepared. at sunrise on Saturday the 24th, prayers will begin. during the day, specific prayers will be offered. there will be two inipi (sweat) ceremonies, one at about 10am, one about 4pm. however, we will do as many as needed. at sunrise on Sunday the 25th, we will perform a sunrise ceremony. we plan to break camp around noon on the 25th.
this is not an ""invitation only"" event. traditionally, spirit will dictate who attends ceremony, not the person performing the ceremony. please let others know. again, anyone is welcome at anytime.
if anyone desires to stay overnight, I would suggest you get in touch with the sisters at the center. they have a website.

things to bring:
water, food for yourself. red cloth, tobacco, string if you wish to do prayer ties.
please bring an extra set of clothes, towels, if you are going in the lodge.
as this is a traditional ceremony, there are certain rules which must be followed.

inside the circle:

there will be a ""smudge bucket' at the entrance to the area, please use it before entering the area.

there will be a sacred alter, it is not to be touched.

no objects should be thrown in the fire.

no cursing in the sacred circle.

please respect the people in the lodge by not talking loudly during a prayer.

in the lodge:

no jewelry of any kind.

hair must be worn loose, no braids, no hair ties.

shoulders must be covered. I suggest a sweat dress or t-shirt and skirt which covers the knees for women. men must wear shorts and t-shirt.

no water bottles are allowed in the lodge.

please respect each other's journey in the lodge, do not touch the person next to you.

remember: it will be hot. an inipi is not an endurance test. it is a prayer ceremony. you are allowed to leave the lodge at anytime and sit outside the lodge during a ceremony.

I am so thankful for the support given to me over the years.
